Join the Koshland Science Museum and the Emergency Management Professionals in the DC/MD/VA Area Meetup for a discussion about how data and technology are transforming our ability to plan for disasters.
Earlene Dowell from the Center for Economic Studies at the U.S. Census Bureau will demonstrate how online tools provide data about where people live and work, average earnings, and the top industries in local areas and how many people they employ. This information assists in guiding decisions about transportation planning, economic development, and more. This data can also assist employers and officials with planning evacuation routes for natural hazards and emergencies. You will have an opportunity to participate in scenario-based activities to create workforce related maps, charts, profiles, and custom reports.
The Emergency Management Professionals in the DC/MD/VA Area Meetup is an informal networking group for anyone working in the emergency management field. Members can explore new ideas and discuss current topics through an open exchange of information at various locations in the metropolitan area.
