The U.S. Census Bureau and the Local Employment Dynamics (LED) Partnership in collaboration with the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) welcomes Mr. Grundvig as he shares the potential advantages and caveats when using shift-share analysis with the QWIs. When coupled together there is ability to create a powerful tool set which helps quantify the changes as reported in the QWI’s and assist users when evaluating policy changes, shifts in the economy and highlight different aspects of the workforce.

Nelse Grundvig is the Wisconsin Labor Market Information Director. Nelse oversees the production of workforce information as it relates to the state economy. Previously Nelse oversaw the Labor Market and Occupational Research Group for the North Carolina Employment Security Commission from 2005-2010. There he promoted a customer-driven research process combining datasets and resources to create products to fit the needs of the customer. Nelse also worked at Job Service North Dakota from 1990 to 2005 doing applied research and economic forecasting, giving Nelse a truly unique perspective that is both comprehensive and detailed when dealing with socioeconomic information. Nelse is noted for being able to apply this perspective when addressing the needs of his customer.
