GARRETT TATE

Senior Data Scientist and Geoscientist

Garrett Tate is a Senior Data Scientist and Research Associate leading research and development of machine learning methods to help solve global and environmental challenges. He holds a Ph.D. in Geosciences from Princeton University and B.S. and B.A. degrees in Earth Science and Mathematics from Rice University. Garrett previously served as an Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University and as an Earth Scientist at Chevron leading research related to geologic and tectonic dynamics, natural disasters, and risk analysis. At NLT, Garrett is currently developing consequence models for U.S. federal disaster response missions, as well as partnering with universities and nonprofits to conduct research on topics including conflict, climate change, mental health, and global economic development.
